Millions of Britons have been receiving their £10 Christmas bonus but some may be yet to receive the payment.
The money usually goes out automatically to those who are eligible and is paid during the first week of December.
The Government advises that if a person has not received the funds by January 1 they should contact the Jobcentre Plus office that deals with their payments, or the Pension Service.
A person can contact the Pension Service on 0800 731 0469. Lines are open Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm.
The payment will appear in a person’s bank account with the code ‘DWP XB’ and is tax free and does not count towards the benefits cap.
Benefit payments are set to increase 6.7 percent next April, after the Government confirmed payments would increase in line with the September figure for inflation.
The average family on Universal Credit will see their payment increase by around £470 a year from April 2024. This is the equivalent of an increase of around £39 per month.
The state pension is increasing 8.5 percent in line with the triple lock, with the full new state pension going up from £203.85 a week to £221.20. The full basic state pension is increasing from £156.20 a week to £169.50.
Also with the 6.7 percent benefits increase, the Pension Credit top up will rise from up to £201.05 to £218.15 a week for single claimants, and from £306.85 a week to £332.95 for couples.
The Savings Credit portion will rise from £15.94 a week to £17.29 for single people, and from £17.84 to £19.39 for couples.
A person can check how much benefits they can claim using a benefits calculator, such as the one on the Turn2us website.
